About Us:

Gurusamy Inc. was created as a sub-chapter S corporation and was established April 2004. The primary investor and shareholder is also the administrator of HSP.

The shareholders of the company are healthcare professionals that have been successful in improving the quality and standards of health care on Guam and the Pacific Region. The shareholders of the company have over 50 years (combined) of health care experience and 20 years (combined) of business experience in health care. The company was formalized in April 2004 and began to provide health care services to the community on October 2004.

Health Service of the Pacific Home Care became a Medicare certified home health agency on January 5, 2005. Majority of patients seeking home health care services are Medicare eligible clients. Medicare certification means that HSP meets the minimum standards for care expected of all home health agencies throughout the United States.

To meet the high-quality level of care that 14,000 other health care institutions in the U. S have achieved, Health Service of the Pacific Home Care applied to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and successfully achieved accreditation after a site visit on May 4, 2005. Health Service of the Pacific Home Care was awarded the maximum accreditation of five years. JCAHO is a not-for-profit organization that accredits health care organizations throughout the United States and its territories. Presently, Health Service of the Pacific Home Care is the first and only home care agency on Guam to achieve these standards of care.

In 2004, the HSP team launched Health Services of the Pacific Diabetes Center. HSP-DC now offers a Diabetes Self-Management Education program- A Medicare recognized program. HSP-DC also works closely with other community organizations in spreading awareness toward the prevention of diabetes and empowering diabetics to live full and healthy lives.

In January 2006, HSP started our Hospice program with the goal to provide a holistic team approach of comfort and support to patients and their families experiencing a terminal illness. HSP-Hospice is committed to improving end of life care and expanding access to hospice care with the goal of enhancing quality of life for people dying in Guam and their loved ones. Hospice care involves a team-oriented approach of expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support tailored to the patient's wishes. Hospice is the model for quality, compassionate care at the end of life. Emotional and spiritual support also is extended to the family and loved ones. Generally, this care is provided in the patient's home or in a home-like setting operated by a hospice program.

HSP continues to create a unique focus in health care that is not available with any of the other home care agencies by having the only nationally certified wound care nurse on island. Other plans for health care are to develop specific targets of practice guidelines that address the common chronic illnesses on Guam in effort to keep patients at home versus being hospitalized. Over the next two years, HSP plans to incorporate telehealth into our disease management program, which will further advance our ability to deliver high quality health care on Guam.
